A statue of Lincoln as he may have looked at the time of this famous debate with Stephen Douglass in 1858 stands in Taylor Park for people to see. The monument was dedicated to Freeport in 1929 on the anniversary of the debate.

Two war memorials can be found near the Stephenson County Courthouse. The Civil War Soldiers Monument was erected in 1871 in remembrance of all the local soldiers who lost their lives in the war. It has four sides, which stands for the four groups who fought: the infantry, cavalry, artillery and navy. The second memorial is the Vietnam Era Veterans Memorial. It was dedicating in 1987. A bronze statue on the top represents the missing men of the war.

The founder of Freeport, William "Tutty" Baker is honored by a monument established on Monterey Street. Baker built a trading post, offered lodging, food and ferry rides to travelers and came up with the town's name.
