Fever River Railroad Museum Featuring an huge model train display, the Fever River Train museum in Freeport will amaze people of all ages. While this project is not yet completed, visitors can admire the likeness of the trains as they appear to travel through an Illinois-like landscape. This highly detailed attraction is open some weekends in the spring and the fall, or by appointment. Other railroad memorabilia can be viewed in the building. Visitors in Freeport can visit one of the city's oldest homes, the Taylor Home from 1857, as well as many exhibits at the Stephenson County Historical Society Museum. The grounds of the home include several areas of interest, including a schoolhouse, a farm museum, a log cabin and an arboretum. The museum is open May through October from Wednesday to Sunday at 12pm to 4pm, and from November to April on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm. Address: 1440 S.
